Russell Gray

Utah divorce lawyer Russell Gray enjoys helping people solve their problems. That is why he practices family law. As heartbreaking as divorce and custody disputes can be, he knows he has the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on his clients’ lives.

“I find it very rewarding to help a client accomplish something they didn’t think was possible,” Mr. Gray said.

Mr. Gray takes pride in his creativity. He understands that family law cases can be really complicated and that balancing all of the competing interests can be challenging. “I really enjoy thinking outside the box and helping clients find a way to solve difficult problems.” Mr. Gray combines his problem-solving ability with his willingness to take a case “all the way” to ensure his clients obtain the best possible results in their case.”

Divorce or custody disputes take a lot of patience and perseverance. There might be some bumps in the road, but it is important to stay focused on the end goal. There are a lot of attorneys who treat divorce and family law litigation as an attritional process without particularly caring about the results. “That is the opposite of my approach,” says Russell. “I always try to find the most efficient but effective way of resolving a dispute. I’m very willing to go to trial if that is the only way to accomplish my client’s goals. But I believe it’s better to explore other avenues along the way, and often that leads to a better resolution.”

“This is a really difficult process,” he says. “There are a lot of ups and downs. But, at the end, your life will be better.”

In addition to family law, Russell has worked in other practice areas including insurance defense and personal injury. For example, he worked for Salt Lake County from 2012 through 2017 as a hearing officer for the Board of Equalization (property tax appeals). He had a solo law practice for 8 years, from 2006 through 2014. In the past, he has also worked for Orange Legal, Huntsman Lofgran (now Huntsman Lofgran Walton Easter), and Cordell & Cordell. In 2015, he obtained a graduate certificate in Dispute Resolution from the University of Utah and he has worked as a court-approved family law mediator. Whatever you’re looking for, it’s likely that Russell has the knowledge and experience to help you.
